He focuses on modernising the transfer of investment and policy expertise to countries for developing their private sector and free market economies. Tokayev appointed Chakrabarti as his freelance advisor on September 14. Chakrabarti has been President of the EBRD since 2012. I look forward to the work ahead,” Chakrabarti wrote. He also became deputy chairman of the Supreme Council for Reforms under the President of Kazakhstan. The post of chairman is held by the President of Kazakhstan. Earlier, he said Tokayev had appointed him to a similar position.
